New Ipswich is a beautiful town with lots to see. It is rich in history and the scenery can’t be beat. I wasn’t surprise to come across a great view of Mt. Monadnock…
I drove by a gorgeous house, sitting high on a hill and thought they really had a lovely view…
With so many views, I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite…
There are quite a few ponds, rivers and streams in New Ipswich, each offering their own unique serenity…
It is still the maple sugaring season and I found some traditional methods of collecting sap and at least one that I had never seen before…
I found countless examples of historic buildings, but one of my favorites was the Barrett House built in 1800…
It is now a museum, but it was closed for the season. I’m looking forward to a return visit some time this summer. I also loved the architecture of the Warwick Mills building. It has a fascinating history as well…
You have probably noticed, if you’ve been following my tour of NH, that I kind of have a thing for barns and New Ipswich didn’t let me down in that department at all…
I ended my tour of New Ipswich with a visit to Story Book Farm. I had a great time visiting with their animals and checking out their small farm store…

For some reason I’ve never done anything but drive through New Ipswich. I guess I just never had any reason to stop. I love their view of Monadnock though, so next time I’ll have to stop for a while. I’ve never seen a plastic bag used to gather sap! It looks like it’s working though.
Before I started this blog, all I ever did was drive through also, now I drive around. I use a really cool app on my iPhone called trackerIZE. It tracks me by gps and every place I stop to take pictures, I also take one with my phone and it puts a pin on the map. That way when I get home, I know exactly where everything was, but it also gives me statistical data about my trip. I drove a total of 62.7 miles while in New Ipswich, stopped 14 places and had an average speed of 10 mph.
I had never seen the plastic bag method either, but there were dozens of them. I’ve seen some very interesting methods, including an old 1/2 & 1/2 container and an orange juice jug…whatever it takes I guess!
That app sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!
Laura, I always enjoy your “wanderings” and this one was great! Love the piggies kissing and your barn shots are wonderful. Hope we can find time to kayak some of the streams and ponds you found.
Hi Martha, I can’t wait to get the kayak out! So many places to explore! ~Laura
