I was quite happy to be out and about with the weather starting to turn spring like. I saw my first real sign of spring while I was in Francestown. In front of a lovely old farm house, I saw my first crocus of the year…
The snow melt has filled the streams and brooks to capacity. I found several places to set up my camera and capture the rushing water…
Even small ponds were overflowing…
Another welcome sight of spring was a pair of ring-necked ducks on Pleasant Pond…
In a field, I saw a gaggle of geese foraging…
I saw plenty of fields and wonderful old barns in Francestown…
And of course, you can’t have farms and fields without horses…
Crotched Mountain Resort has a great view of Crotched Mountain…
There are plenty of marshes and ponds to explore in Francestown…
My last stop in Francestown was the center of town…
I found plenty of reasons to visit Francestown and I hope I’ve shown you enough for you to make your own trip to visit this beautiful New Hampshire town.

I never knew there was so much water in Francestown!
I was surprised too. There are 2 or 3 large ponds and quite a few brooks and streams. I want to go back and kayak on Pleasant Pond (taht is where I saw the ducks) ~Laura

The boardwalk is also interesting. We don’t see many of those around here, but they use them a lot in the midwest. I think in New Hampshire we’re expected to just slog through it, rather than be elevated above it.
It was clear that someone had really done quite a bit of work on the boardwalk. The path leading to it was raked and the entire area was all cleaned up. It is really nicely done. ~Laura

Hi, Laura,
I love that photo of of the double silo. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like it. Also, you did a good job on Keene!
Sandy
