Thursdays are a great day to be out on the ATV trails in the Great North Woods, then again, what day isn’t? This is another post that is more about the adventure than a specific town. I’m going to warn you ahead of time, that this isn’t some of my best photography. I guess I need to practice getting good shots while rumbling along a trail at 25mph.
I had the good fortune to meet one of the Silver Riders a few weeks ago. I had been looking for someone to take me out on an ATV adventure while I was in the Great North Woods. Ron told me that a group of guys get together every Thursday and hit the trails and I was more than welcome to join them. They are called the Silver Riders, based out of Dummer, NH. They ride every Thursday, rain or shine. The ride is always different (with 100’s of miles of ATV trails, it’s easy to change up the route). You never know for sure who is going to show up each week, but you can be assured of a great time.
We met at the Millsfield ATV club at 9 am…
Then we hit the trails. It was an overcast day with some light drizzle. I learned that this is actually a good thing because it helps keep the trail dust to a minimum. We rode over all kinds of trails…gravel roads, muddy roads, steep inclines, railroad beds, into and out of the forest. There were so many incredible views along the trail. If you ever find yourself around Millsfield and want to join up with the Silver Riders, show up at the Millsfield ATV Club on Thursday at 9 am and tell them that Laura sent you. You won’t find a better group of people to ride with and the trails of the north country shouldn’t be missed!
I had a phenomenal time with this group and the trails can’t be beat! As evening drew near, we made our final stop at The Log Haven lodge, just in time for Happy Hour, can you think of a better way to end a great day? Me either!
It’s been a long time since I was last on one of those. It’s a lot of fun!
I had a blast, but when I asked my husband for one he said no…lol
