Lincoln is truly a town for all seasons. In the warmer months you can visit Whale’s Tale Water Park, ride the Hobo Railroad, and visit Clark’s Trading Post. In the fall, there is nothing more beautiful than a ride along the Kancamagus Highway. The foliage and views are unbelievable. That leaves winter, what to do in winter? Well, you can start by just enjoying the magnificent views as you drive up highway 93 to get to Lincoln…
I started my tour on Lincoln by checking out Indian Head Rock…
If you are a guest at Indian Head Resort, you can climb the tower to get a much better view…
And check out their totem pole…
A short distance away is Clark’s Trading Post. In the summer, they have a railroad ride and live bears (among other things)…
From there I headed to the Kanc (how the locals refer to Rte. 112). Since I wasn’t driving my jeep, I had to skip some of the scenic overlooks. It had snowed the night before and they weren’t all plowed yet, but the views were incredible just the same…
My last stop for the day was Loon Mountain Ski Resort. I knew I wanted plenty of time to explore the mountain and the Ice Castle. The ice castle was built by a company from Utah and was the first one on the east coast, but more about that later. I took the gondola to the top of the mountain and watched the skiers and boarder have all sorts of fun…
After my time at the top, I rode the gondola back to the base and headed for the ice castle…
Since I still had a while before the sun set, I went over to the Bunyan Room to warm up and relax…
From the deck, I watched the snow cat groom the trails…
On my way back to the ice castle, I saw the last train of the evening head to the other side of the resort…
The sun was beginning to set and the light on the ice castle was amazing…
Once the sun set, the moon came out and the castle was lit up for the night…
What is the best way to get to Lincoln? That easy…
Just as a note, the gondola ride to the summit is also open in the summer for some great hiking! It’s great to be back touring NH.
For those of you who have been following along on my Life Happens page, Steven passed away on Feb. 25th. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

So glad you are back “on tour” and your shots are more gorgeous than ever! The drops, the castle, the views. Loved it all. Welcome back to New Hampshire!!
Thank you Martha! It felt good to get out again!
I’m sorry that you lost your son in law, and hope he wasn’t in too much pain.
The ice castle is really something. I haven’t been up that way for a long time.
