Spring in almost upon us here in New Hampshire. There are certainly plenty of signs, even if the temps are still in the mid 30’s…
Another sure sign of spring is the maple sap collection buckets…
Which eventually make their way to the sugar house…
And it never hurts to have an arch bridge to cross the stream to get to the sugar house…
Another sign of spring is the return of red-winged blackbirds. We now have so many resident robins that they are no longer considered the first bird of spring…
You don’t have to travel very far in Lyndeborough to find sweeping vistas of the surrounding mountains…
If sweeping vistas aren’t your thing, you can check out some of the beautiful old barns…
Or some of the other oddities I found…
There are also plenty of poms, lakes and streams to visit and enjoy…
Thanks for coming along! To learn more about Lyndeborough, visit the town’s website or the state’s website.
And we awaken to another covering of snow, even here on the Seacoast, this last day of March …

We have sleet here this morning. I’m sure spring really is just around the corner! At least I’m hoping so!!!
I have yet to see my first Redwing Blackbird, they certainly always say SPRING to me. Love the shot of the house on a rock. You find the most interesting things in your travels. Gorgeous vistas and wonderful barns.
Lyndeborough has so much to offer. I’d love to know the story about the house on the rock!
What a lovely place! The idea of buckets everywhere to collect the maple sap appeals to me and the little bridge and sugar house are fantastic. I like the crooked house sitting on a boulder too although I’m not sure I’d want to live there.
I wouldn’t want to live on the boulder! I can see me having one too many and falling off the porch!
Me too!
Nice shot of the red winged blackbirds. They suddenly appeared here just the other day. The house on the boulder is a little strange but probably a good conversation starter.
Those were the first red winged blackbirds I’ve seen this year. Always a welcome sight. I’ll bet that house doesn’t have any plumbing!
Laura, I love the photo of the sap collection buckets. And that house on the boulder – yikes! How do you find these very cool places? ~Terri
Sap production is way down this year, of course that means the price of syrup is going to go up. I can’t imagine being in that house after a few beers – I could easily picture myself falling off the porch. I don’t drive every road in a town, but darn close!
