While I do try to plan my tour route in advance, I never know what I am going to find. Acworth surprised me with some truly unique finds! I’ll start with the Beryl Mountain Museum – The Happy Home of Antique Trucks, Antique Cars, Snowmobiles and other Stuff!! It is only open by appointment and doesn’t have a website but an appointment is only a phone call away, 603-835-6529. I wandered around outside, marveling at the history. Part of me thinks this would be a collectors heaven while part of me thinks it would be a nightmare. All of these antiques to admire, but knowing they are subjected to the weather. This is just a very small sample of what I saw. I had never heard of Autocar or Sterling, but here they were. I lost count of how many Mack’s I saw, but every one was interesting to see…

Just up the road from the museum was the Save Your Ass Long Ear Rescue. The name made me chuckle but the work they do is wonderful!

The Village Store/Post Office offers delicious home cooked/baked snacks and meals for a hungry tourist!

This highland cow was enjoying the coolness of the pond
After seeing the cow enjoying the water, I decided it was time to cool off myself. I headed to the Cold River and slipped off my shoes for a short wade into the river. I wished I hadn’t already eaten my lunch because this would have been the perfect spot for a picnic…
There are several lakes, ponds and rivers in Acworth. No matter if you are looking for a fishing spot, a quiet paddle or some wildlife watching, you can find it in Acworth…
Cooled off, I continued with my tour. The sculpture in front of the sugar house made me smile…
Apparently more than a few people in Acworth have a tendency towards the whimsical…
I stopped to watch the turkeys in the field with the hawks circling overhead (at least I think they were hawks)…
This robin seemed quite happy on her nest above the door…
The last place I stopped was at the fire station. I thought the siren was neat as was the old engine…
Whether you are in Acworth or your own home town, take the time to look around instead of passing through! You might be surprised at what you find!

I used to do a lot of mineral hunting on Beryl Mountain and I’ve seen pockets that crystals as big as a man were taken out of. it’s quite a place!

I used to be. I still keep my eyes out for special things but I don’t carry a rock hammer anymore.
I loved the rusty old trucks but I can see a collector might be sad to see them in such a state. You always seem to find a quirky sculpture to make me smile too 🙂

If they had been open and I had more time, I could have spent the day there! I think my favorite is the one with the Tonka truck on the hood,although I am parcial to Macks. The farm definietely made me smile!
