Freedom seemed an obvious choice of town to visit on the Fourth of July. After all, I did go to Hell Hollow for Halloween. The perimeter of Freedom includes more than 10 miles of water frontage, making it a perfect place for a summer retreat. Some people personalize their lake front homes with signs, other have a more unique way to make it their own…
One of the homes we passed had a wonderful display of Texaco signage…

The constant threat of rain did little to discourage people from celebrating on the shores of Ossipee Lake, Broad Bay, Leavitt Bay, Berry Bay and the Ossipee River…

Steve and I were looking for a less crowded place to enjoy the 4th, so we headed over to the Freedom Town Forest. After looking at the trail map, we decided to head over to the Trout Pond.

The sides of the roads and paths looked as if a painter had spilled gallons of paint. Yellow seemed to be the color of choice for the wildflowers in bloom…

As we were driving on one of the back roads, we interrupted some vultures having lunch. The flew off into the trees to wait for us to move on…
One of the last parts of Freedom we visited was the village. An old Ford seemed to stand guard at the entrance to Rest A While Park.
And the Freedom Village Store brought lovely colors to such a dreary day…
Across from the store, the Freedom Gallery sign showed off beautiful clematis, bringing even more colors to admire…

You’d really enjoy the Freedom Town Forest. It includes the Ossipee Pine Barrens and some other unique features.
You have such a great eye for photography. I love the hidden things you find, the first photo a prime example, and the interesting and creative perspectives and angles you choose. Well done!
