With 2012 drawing to a close, Steve and I drove over to Barrington, NH. The day was overcast and cold, but we made the best of it.
At one time in history (in 1817) only 2 towns in New Hampshire had a larger population. Today, it ranks 34th in population. One of the oldest businesses in town is Calef’s Country Store ( https://www.calefs.com/ )…
You can find plenty of old time goods at Calef’s, but what they are probably most famous for is their selection of cheeses…delicious…everything from smoked cheddar to steakhouse onion. My favorite is the horseradish cheddar. I worked up the courage to try their hottest cheese, buffalo cheddar…my sinuses are still clear. Next to the country store is a gift store, featuring almost anything you could want to decorate a country home…
Another historic business is Knight’s, with a unique sign on the highway…
The Isinglass River played a big part in the history of Barrington and it offers many photo opportunities…
There are quite a few ponds (both large and small) to enjoy…
Also, there is no lack of beautiful barns…
I had to have Steve turn around so I could get a shot of this piece of history…
With so many roads to travel in Barrington, you are sure to find something that will make your trip worthwhile!

Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to this web site before but after
browsing through many of the articles I realized it’s new to me.
Nonetheless, I’m certainly delighted I came across it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back frequently!
