Plainfield

It’s been a several weeks since we visited Plainfield, so this post won’t showcase the beautiful fall foliage, but Plainfield still has plenty to offer! I bet the sweeping vistas are now ablaze with color…

Folks in town certainly have fun with the fact Rum Brook meanders its way through town, after all, what is rum without a pirate or two?

Just off NH Rt-12A is the Kimball Union Academy, one of the oldest private boarding high schools in the country. It was founded in 1813 and has such a beautiful campus…

We wanted to do a bit of off-roading while we were there and Plainfield has lots of miles of class VI roads to enjoy…

There had been a bit of rain the week before, so when we got to this point, we decided to turn around…

I’m sure Trouble could have made it through the mud, but there was a spot to turn around here and we didn’t know about further up the road! We haven’t had to use Trouble’s winch yet and we didn’t want to test it that day. Making our way back to paved roads, we passed several lovely farms…

Two years ago, my friend Martha from Therapeutic Misadventures and I visited Plainfield looking for Hell Hollow. What we found was Plainfield’s pumpkin people (both links above will take you to our posts about them)…

Dad, this one is for you!

Speaking of Florida, I’m headed there this week to visit my dad, so there won’t be any towns posted for the next two weeks. See you when I get back.

The field in the next to last photo is gorgeous! Sorry to have missed visiting the pumpkin folks in Hell Hollow this year. So creative.

I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since we went!! The horses in the field looked quite content.

Have a great trip to visit your Dad. I’m off to help my Mom move.
So much green in your photos. Here the leaves have pretty much gone. I love the pumpkin person. 🙂

You should check out the links. The pumpkin people were very cool. There isn’t too much green left here now either.

Oh those are incredible. I thought the pumpkin people in the truck were my top pick but no the pumpkin faced cow jumping over the moon.

Have fun in Florida. I hope your show went well last weekend. I’m sorry I missed it but this new job leaves me no time during the week so it all has to happen on weekends now.
I don’t blame you for turning around!

Yep, I’ll bet those vistas are rather multi-colored right now. Nice images, Laura…looks like a nice little adventure. 🙂

Looks like a pretty little place. Not sure that pirate ship’s seaworthy, though.

I don’t think I’d set sail in it that’s for sure.

I think that may be a very wise choice. 🙂

Beautiful photos as always Laura. Each of your posts highlights yet another beautiful town and the countryside. I love the sense of humor there and the rum & pirates jokes. I’d love to know the story, but I suspect that the name originated with a dream of rum which wasn’t available, rather than a river full. 🙂 Have a fun trip to FL. ~James
